GRENZELOZE ROTTERDAMMERS
DOCUMENTARY SERIES | 8 X 25 MIN. | 2016
How do you become a Rotterdammer in a city with 170 nationalities? Are you required to learn or unlearn something? Do you have let something go or add something to it? Or don’t you have to do anything at all?
In 2016 the documentary series Grenzeloze Rotterdammers (Rotterdammers without borders) takes to the streets to address this question. Connected to the celebration of 75 years of reconstruction of the city and as part of the manifestation Rotterdam Celebrates The City!, this series tells the postwar migrant history of Rotterdam through the personal stories of people who have made Rotterdam their home in the past 75 years.
Historian and journalist Dore van Duivenbode, a Rotterdammer and from Polish decent herself visits 16 cultural communities to see how they combine their culture and the Rotterdam citizenship.
This documentary series has been aired by regional public broadcaster RTV Rijnmond in Spring 2016.
